WANT TO KNOW A SECRET?

The news is finally getting out. Baby Lock's brand new "state of the art" machines with patented new innovations are being revealed.  Have you wondered how in the world they could improve upon the Ellisimo? Take a peek at the new "Destiny"!
It is bigger and faster and has features that make it even easier than we have ever seen before!  We cannot wait for you to see this one in person.  We have something for our Long Arm Quilting machine owners too! We have a feeling that you will be thrilled to see this. Take a look!

Lighting like this can solve a world of problems in the quilting process! For our customers who simply want a fabulous sewing machine at an affordable price, take a look at the Katherine. It is bigger than it's predecessor, but still affordable!

Not everyone begins their sewing and embroidery adventure with the top of the line machine, so Baby Lock has developed a machine that includes the most important elements of embroidery like size of hoops, built in editing, and fabulous sewing features at a price that won't overwhelm your budget. They have appropriately named it "Adventurer".

There are still more new machines to come and so many more notions and innovations to go with them.

STRESS-FREE QUILTING

Would you like to experience a day of quilting where the techniques, machines, and instruction all work together to take the stress away from your efforts? Creative Sewing Machine Center is offering a quilting event designed to help you maneuver through quilting techniques that sometimes confuse quilters. You will have the pleasure of sewing on state of the art machines that aid you as you construct flying geese, piece quarter inch seams, free-motion quilt, attach binding, and try the new free-motion couching foot.
The class will offer a Notions Commotion; demonstrations of dozens of notions that simplify the quilting process.  Every stage of quilting can be improved and simplified with the techniques and notions that are available today. We want our customers to be the most informed and pampered when it comes to quilting. The demonstrations will include the Silhouette Electronic Cutting Machine, the newest marking and cutting tools, rulers and presser feet.
Be sure and reserve a place in the class on Saturday, May 17th from 9:30 to 12:30. The only cost is a $15 reservation fee. You may call the store at 936-1251.

QUILT CHALLENGE:

The American Dream: The Sky’s The Limit

Sometimes when things get tough we forget that we live in the greatest country in the world, where freedom is still treasured and hard work is still rewarded. Creative Sewing wants to celebrate the values that have blessed us so greatly by offering our customers an opportunity.  We have many talented quilters who shop with us and sewing enthusiasts who feel passionately about our country, so we are proposing a challenge that could earn you a BabyLock Tiara Long Arm Quilting Machine!

The quilt challenge rules are as follows:

1.    Quilts should reflect the theme, The American Dream: The Sky’s The Limit
2.    Quilts must be 45” X 60” (with a 3” variation permitted) Those that measure larger or smaller than the prescribed limits will not be entered.
3.    Fabric must be purchased at Creative Sewing Machine Center
4.    Participants will receive a fat quarter of theme fabric at the time of registration. All or part of the fat quarter must be included in the quilt, either sub-cut or used entirely
5.    Quilts may be traditional or art quilts and include but are not limited to piecing, embroidery, and applique
6.    Judging of quilts will be based on creativity and interpretation of theme
7.    The winner of the Challenge agrees to allow the display of their quilt in the store for 6 months
8.    All entries must be submitted by 5:00pm on August 6th

And now onto the good stuff! We've gotten our fabric in for our fat quarters, and it is lovely! We've spent all morning making fat quarters, so we're ready for this challenge to begin!

This fabric is absolutely perfect for "the sky's the limit"  theme. Here is our sky fabric fat quartered and also against a ruler.

So come and stop on in to register! Everyone who enters will receive their fat quarter so the quilting may begin!

How To Make a Quilt Braid: A Tutorial

It is our desire that this blog will be a place of inspiration for our customers and readers! Today, we are going to show you a tutorial for constructing a Quilt Braid or "herringbone" design by piecing fabric with a unique Creative Grids Trapezoid Ruler we have in store!

Before we get started with this amazing quilting technique today using the awesome Trapezoid Creative Grids ruler, we wanted to let you know about a few upcoming store offerings this week!

Don't Miss!!! (check calendar for more info!)
  • Mamie Dress Pattern Class Taught by Susan (Tuesday, 9am - 3:30pm)
  • Serger Technique Workbook Class (Wednesday, 10am - 12pm)
  • Introduction to Machine Quilting (Thursday, 10am - 2pm)
  • Palette 9 and Masterworks Software Class (Friday)
  • Beginning Sewing Part 1 (Saturday, 9am - 1pm)
Okay! Now to this *neat* technique using this Creative Grids Trapezoid Ruler designed by Rachel Cross that we have in store! This is the ruler that we are using today!

With this ruler, you can both cut 2.5'' strips AND cut your trapezoids needed to build a quilt braid (or Herringbone) pattern. You will create a 5'' Trapezoid using this ruler and we love it, because it saves you a lot of time and fumbling with several different rulers!
Ready to see how this is done? It truly is so fast and easy!

1.Cut your 2.5'' strip!
2. Now move your ruler down and line up your trapezoid section of your ruler along the top edge of the fabric. Cut your fabric strip at each of the trapezoid cut out sections with your rotary cutter (2, 3, 4).

Repeat this process again 2 or 3 times to get different coordinating fabrics to fit together. We used 2 different fabrics to create one braid to model for you.

Lastly, we will show you how to layout your pieces to create this braid design, then leave the quilting piecing up to you for whatever project you are working on!
Using 1/4'' seam, join these pieces together to create this braid effect!
Use this technique for quilts, braids, neat fabric designs, and more! The options are endless!
